Abstract

Interdisciplinarity today is present in every single scientific field. Interestingly, in the field of economy there is interdisciplinarity which manages to bring together seemingly opposite ideas, and that is econophysics. Econophysics is an interdisciplinary research area with the aim of applying the ideas and laws of natural science (especially physics) to describe and study the phenomena in the field of economy. In this paper the author tried to briefly present econophysics, which exists under that name since 1995 and witnesses a growing number of scientists studying it. The author also presented concrete examples of how knowledge from the field of physics is applied in economy, the examples he himself had studied.
